Dalmatian Sage – Kadulja

dalmatian_sage_plantDalmatian Sage (Salvia officinalis), called “garden” or “true” Sage, is one of about 750 varieties of sage around the world but is known as the superior Sage variety. It’s native to Dalmatia and the coastal Adriatic. With its powerful spicy, sharp, and very herbaceous scent, it can be overpowering unless used in very small amounts. It’s botanical name is derived from the Latin salvere, which means to save or to heal, and its antiseptic properties make it useful for treating sores and skin eruptions, excessive sweating, and for stopping bleeding in cuts. It’s also a good deodorant and helps treat dandruff when used in the hair.
